TAN RUNJIAARMINE · ROBOTICS & EMBODIED AI

ABOUT · TAN RUNJIA

Research meets Engineering.

I'm TAN RUNJIA (谭润家), also known as Armine. I am in the second half of my third year of PhD studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Current as of September 2026.

What I work on

My work spans robot learning, multimodal human–robot interaction and vision-guided manipulation. I study how robots can learn from human instructions and demonstrations, understand intent across language and gestures, and turn that understanding into physical actions.

I connect method development with system integration: bringing perception, planning, control and robot hardware together for precision manipulation, mobile robots and industrial assembly.

Industry collaboration

I collaborate with Desay SV Singapore on robotic cable assembly and contact-guided insertion. Our team MatrixX passed the Qualification Phase of the Intrinsic AI for Industry Challenge.

Education & earlier work

I received my B.Eng. in Automation from Hefei University of Technology in 2020 and my M.Sc. in Computer Control and Automation from NTU in 2022. My earlier work explored robot perception, proximity-based interaction, locomotion and reinforcement learning.
